SALTSKIN Wetsuit Range Overview: Versatile Wetsuit for Spearfishing, Freediving, Surfing & More:

You can read the blog below or watch our video on this topic here:

These suits are made to cover a range of water sports activities. So do surfing, free diving, spearfishing, and Scuba diving. They've got four main styles. You've got your two piece wetsuits with hood, you've got one piece wetsuits, so your chest zip and your back zip. You've also got a 4/3mm width hood chest zip and then we've got out men's tops and women's sort of surf capsule styles.

First off we've got our two piece wetsuits. The two piece wetsuits are available in three thicknesses; 2mm, 3.5mm, and 5mm. All the two piece suits they're long john inside rather than a high waist pant. Your men's ones come from extra small to extra large and women's are available in size four to 14. We did notice that the women's sizes fit a little bit bigger, so if you find yourself between sizes just opt for the size down.

Also got our one piece suits, these are 3/2mm suits. You've got your back zip and we've got the chest zip. These are more tailored the predominant surfer, even snorkeler or standup paddle boarder who wants to do a little bit of spearfishing or freediving as well. So they've still got integrated loading pads in there, but they're just high stretch neoprene, a little bit thinner.

4/3mm chest zip; this one's a one piece suit with a hood built in. So that's kind of unique in that category. We usually only see this for surfers. But I've been doing a lot of freediving and spearfishing lately and I've really enjoyed it. Suitable for surfing in colder water like Melbourne, New Zealand, that sort of thing, south coast, New South Wales. Suitable for spearfishing in more temperate waters like Brisbane, probably down to about Sydney before it gets too cold.

Now we've got a couple of the capsule options for women. We have the 2.5mm hooded version chest zip and a 2mm chest zip without a hood. Now these are a little bit different to most of the surf capsules in that they're chest zip rather than the vertical front zip which means they're going to be much warmer for surfing. They're not going to flush when you duck dive a wave. So we're pretty excited about these. The other good thing about this, if you do a bit of freediving as well as surfing you can just buy the leggings and you've got yourself a two piece wetsuit which can be used surfing, free diving, spearfishing.

For the guys we've just got your 2mm long sleeve top, pretty standard that one, nice and stretchy. And you've got a 2.5mm with hood. So again, covering that more sort of tropical spearfishing or even just surfing with that one.

So we want to talk about some of the features that run through the range of SALTSKIN. All the extremities have glide skin so very slippery to get on, much better than open sew and it's also going to stop the suit flushing with water. All the wet suits are also made with Jako neoprene which is like a medium density but high stretch, so super comfy.

One of the standout features of these suits is an integrated weight pockets. The weight pockets are only available on the two piece wetsuits and the 4/3mm hooded wetsuit. That's because they're a little bit thicker, the weight's going to help with your freediving and spearfishing. The positioning is above the lungs basically on the outside, that's where a lot of the buoyancy is going to be and it's really going to help you duck dive. Now these pockets take one pound max. Mostly for safety reasons, they're not dumpable, so you can't put more than one pound in each pocket. On the hood is actually a small pocket as well for a Go Pro head strap plate. It's the same plate that comes with your head strap mount, it just means you don't have to wear the strap with it. As most of you know if you've tried diving with them the head strap mounts really uncomfortable.

Another great feature of the two piece suits is the beaver tail fastening system. So it's a hook and loop style system rather than your traditional plastic buckles. As it allows for a much greater degree of adjustability. So you can attach at the top or right down at the bottom without having to change the position of your buckles. Very secure and quick to put on.
