Carbon Spearguns are considered by some to be the best material for a speargun's barrel. There are many reasons for their popularity but like everything, there are pros and cons with carbon fibre barrels and personal preference is always at play.
The general consensus is that carbon-fibre barrels are lighter and more rigid with better power transfer in longer barrels length (think 150cm) with more precision. It's hard to gauge when you're holding it in-store but most people report that their carbon barrel spearguns are more balanced/neutral in the water column. In saying that, being a composite material they can be brittle to impact and more susceptible to damage in the boat and from rocks so if you're a bit on the careless side you're better off with alloy or wood.
Something we think is relevant is how carbon barrels transmit sound compared to metal spearguns. Carbon spearguns don't emit the clangs and scratches that a metal barrel does, from your rubbers/rigging etc.
