Scuba Diving Fins
Dive fins are what propels you through the water whilst diving. Whether you want to use them for scuba diving, snorkelling, spearfishing, freediving or just swimming; ADRENO stocks one of the largest ranges in Australia.
Open Heel Fins: These are the most common style of fins in the scuba realm, due to their compatibility with diving boots and the ability to fit a broader range of sizes. Their intention for use with dive boots or socks makes them ideal in colder water where those extra layers of neoprene are crucial, and wearing a boot means more protection for shore dive applications. Spring straps or adjustable straps are common designs that ensure you have a quality fit. A poorly fitting fin in diving means the inefficient conversion of kicking power to thrust, so over time you end up using more energy which can impact your dive time as you consume more oxygen. Not to mention, it's less comfortable!
Closed Heel Fins: More common for freediving and spearfishing applications, closed heel fins fit much closer to the foot and are intended for use with neoprene socks or with just your bare feet. This also makes this design suitable to warm-water conditions where unnecessary layers of neoprene can make you uncomfortably warm. That being said, some scuba-specific fins still feature this design. There's also the advantage of simplicity; you slip on just the fin, quickly and easily, which makes sense if you'd like to use them for snorkelling applications.
