Queensland State Spearfishing Titles

The Queensland State Titles is the highest level of competition diving for a Queenslander, second only to the National competition held in December. This year the competition will run from Sunshine Coast.
On the first day of competition Competitors will be put into boats, the boats will anchor on Inner Gneerings, and competitors will swim from the boats in search of the target fish for the six hour competition. A swim-off competition such as this makes it fair for all involved – no GPS marks, no boats – just you, the ocean and the fish. The Inner Gneerings is home for many fantastic species and some beautiful reef. Ranging in depth from 6-20m, it is great ground for all experience levels.
The second day of the competition will be a pairs competition in line with the Interpacific Pairs style competition that is held at the same time (but separate to) the Nationals competition. Divers will buddy up, jump in a boat and boats will anchor on outer Arkwright – another fantastic Sunshine Coast reef. Divers will have one float, 2 guns, and 2 float ropes. One float rope must be 4m and the other as long as the divers like. One diver must be within 5m of the float at all times, and one diver must be on the surface at all times. This is a great way to promote safe diving, and it is a tonne of fun too.
Whether you are an experienced spearo, or just looking to get out there, meet some people and find out what competitions are all about, this is a great way to do it. You will meet a heap of people, have a great experience, hopefully weigh in a couple of fish and have a few laughs with all of the top divers from around Queensland.
