Snorkelling is an easy and affordable way to view the Oceans marine life. Snorkelling is an enjoyable water sport activity that the whole family can join in. Make sure you get the right gear for you and your family to maximise comfort and enjoyment of your day.
You Will Need:
Mask - You want a mask that is comfortable, fits correctly around your face and doesn't leak. The best way to check if you have the correct fitting mask is to place it firmly upon your face then breath in through your nose and hold the breath. If the mask sticks to your face without the aid of the mask strap comfortably then you have the right fit!
Snorkel - There are many different options for snorkels out there and it is down to personal preference to which is the right one. A basic J-shaped snorkel will do the job, however there are some styles with extra features to make snorkelling easier. The Purge Valve snorkel allows the water to be cleared from the snorkel at the lower end so therefore requires less effort to clear your snorkel than standard models. Some snorkels also have a splash guard over the top of the snorkel to stop water going down the snorkel if there is choppy water or splashing close by.
Fins - We have a great range of snorkelling fins; from full foot fins to open heel. When you are snorkelling remember that you will be skimming on the surface of the water so it is better to choose a shorter length and lighter weight fin otherwise you will find it difficult to kick and tire easily.
Suit: The suit that you choose will be dependant on where you are snorkelling. If the water is cold, you will need a wetsuit to enjoy your snorkel. It may be warm but you may need protection from stingers, so you will need a stinger suit. Otherwise, if you would just like some sun protection, a rashie may be the most suitable option.
