September is Project AWARE’s Debris Month of Action

    September 12, 2012 1 min read

September is Project AWARE’s Debris Month of Action – a month-long rally when scuba divers around the world will make a stand against the ocean’s silent killer – marine debris.

We would love your help to spread the word in your community.

During September’s Debris Month of Action, we’re calling for scuba divers and ocean advocates everywhere to:

    1. Conduct Dive Against Debris surveys or join an organized Debris Month of Action event. http://www.projectaware.org/project/debris-month-action
    2. Enter the Debris Month of Action Photo Contest. Submit an image of the weirdest piece of trash you’ve found underwater and you could win! http://bit.ly/SfnD6K
    3. Help fund community action and solutions to marine debris problems by pledging support at www.projectaware.org/donate.
Over six million tons of marine litter is estimated to enter our ocean each year. Pervasive debris kills wildlife, destroys habitats, and threatens our health and economy. Found in even the most remote ocean places, once underwater, debris can remain for generations.
