    Red Morwong, Cheilodactylus fuscus

    March 04, 2011 1 min read

Now these are a fish that i can almost guarantee that every spero hunting in warm temperate waters of Australia and New Zealand have chased.

These fish spout a similar shape to the bream or Tarwhine, though have large dark eyes. The colour of these fish is a white under belly with the remainder of the fish a purple/brown red in colour. The Red Morwong is a slow growing fish reaching ages of around 40 years, thankfully they are not targeted in large numbers by commercial fishing.

When chasing Red Morwong i find that a 1m rail gun is more than saficiant for capturing these fish, they are relativly easy fish to hunt.
