Now this is what we call an original dive...

Now this is what we call an original dive...

On New Year’s Eve a video was posted by some guys from Finland. Its title “Some under ice views from beautiful lake Saarijärvi in Vaala, Finland.” doesn’t let on that what is actually in the video, which is an amazing achievement and likely the most original scuba dive you’ve ever seen!

Divers Eelis Rankka, Tommi Salminen and Jukka Pelttari set about making an underwater video UNDER THE ICE! The cameraman was Juuso Mettälä, who wrote the script together with Eelis. With and old wheelbarrow that they found in the lake, a rubber duck, some tools and a balloon and in their dry suits, they act out a play from a manuscript that one would expect in an art house. Instead it is just videotaped and put online for everyone to see, for free.

Yes, they did use safety divers and no, they didn’t leave anything behind in the ice lake. And for the record: we don’t recommend trying this at home without knowing what you are doing (but then again: how many of us live close enough to the Arctics anyway).

Juuso writes: “ We had a lot of fun making this video.”. And we have a lot of fun watching it!

Watch the video and tell us what you think on our Facebook page or below. Have you ever seen anything like it?
