Let me start by saying thanks.....

    May 11, 2011 2 min read

I thought I would use my first blog to thank the people who have had an influence on how I got to be a sponsored Spearo with Team Adreno. The first person I would like to thank is one of my best mates and dedicated NSW Spearo Lee Pullen. Lee has been spearing since he was a kid and has given the Jewies hell over the years especially around Old Bar and Foster. Lee took me spearfishing for the first time about 6 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I haven’t dived with Lee for a couple of years now, however he will be in Cairns soon to catch up and chase some serious fish so keep an eye out for that story!

The next person I would like to thank is probably one of the most intelligent and kindest people you could ever hope to meet. Jack Burnett is a passionate Spearo who is retired and lives in beautiful Belize, home of the world famous Blue Hole. Everyday Jack would pick me up from the Ecologic Divers Dock where Cass and I were doing our Divemasters course and take me out to the reef spearfishing where we would get dinner for the night. Jack is someone I will never forget.

Now the next two guys you would have heard of before. Simon Latta and Travis Corken are well known Australian Spearo’s who I was lucky enough to go on charter with. On our way back to Australia after a year and a half of travelling, Cass and I stopped in at Fiji for 7 days. On the last day there, Simon and Trav were going out spearfishing with Freedive Fiji chasing the elusive Dogtooth Tuna and I was lucky enough to be able to tag along. All I can say is these guys were amazing divers and I felt previliged to be in the water with them. This was the turning point for me and I knew from that day onward I would dedicate myself to spearfishing as much as I could. I also shot my first doggie that day too but definitely not my last!

The last person I would like to thank is my girlfriend Cassie. Without her none of this would have been possible. She has supported every decision I have made and put up with my obsession for spearfishing throughout our travels and also back here in Australia (I think all the lobster and fish I bring home helps) :)

I would also like to thank Adreno for this opportunity and I’m excited for the year to come, sharing my stories and adventures with everyone as I travel around searching for the one that DIDN’T get away. Stay tuned for my next blog where I will answer some questions about the GoPro Hero HD camera and how to make a mount for your speargun.  Happy hunting......
