Letters to Shrek: Brisbane Spearfishing and Freediving Communities

Recently listeners of the Noob Spearo podcast reached out to Isaac asking about local diving communities in SEQ. Searching through Google can seem fruitless in finding these hidden gems, so here are a few of our recommended clubs for you to find new buddies or jump in on dive days.

Best Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Diving/Spearfishing Clubs:

Below is an email correspondence with one of our fans if you want some more info!

    Hi Shrek,

In some of your Podcasts, you talk of a Freediving Club in Brisbane, I've had a look online but there are a few that I have found.

What is the name of the Club that you recommend?

Thought it might be a good idea to brush up on some spearing and freediving skills and meet a bunch of like minded people at the same time.

Any other tips about the Spearo Community around Brisbane would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all your efforts, they are much appreciated.

    G'day Name Redacted,

Awesome mate, Brisbane is a great place and we have a few active places to connect and train these days.

I highly recommend the Brisbane Bullsharks and I like the training there when I can make time to go.

I also like the Tweed Gold Coast Spearing Club that have seen a resurgence in recent years as well as the recently started Sunny Coast Skindivers.

I'm always keen for a spear although it's hard to get hold of these days but the Southern Qld Spearfishing group is great for finding buddies.

Thanks for reaching out anyway man and I hope this helps.
