2013 Big 5 Competition Species

Over the last few weeks, we have incrementally released the species lists for the 2013 Big 5 competition, and asked for your feedback. We have now finalise the species lists for the 11 spearfishing categories. You can see them below! If you have any questions, just ask! Also, don't forget to register for the competition. Reef 5 (1kg minimum)

• Parrotfish (Except Napolean Parrotfish and Napolean Wrasse)
• Job Fish
• Coral Trout (Bluespot Trout Maximum length: 80cm)
• Tuskfish
• Cod (for example Coral Cod, Peacock Cod, Purple Cod, Maori Cod, High Fin Cod etc; Not including Estuary and Malabar cod. Maximum length: 100cm)

Estuary 5 (minimum 1kg)

• Barramundi
• Fingermark
• Mangrove Jack
• Flathead
• Queenfish OR Threadfin Salmon

Big 5 (5kg minimum)

• Cobia
• Jewfish or WA Dhu Fish
• Dolphin Fish/Mahi Mahi
• Yellowtail Kingfish
• AJ/Sampson Fish

Game 5 (5kg minimum)

• Wahoo
• Mackerel
• Dogtooth Tuna
• Other Tuna
• Trevally

Junior 5

• Bream (including Sea Bream)
• Luderick/Zebra Fish
• Morwong (Red Morwong, Sweetlip species, Slatey Bream etc)
• Flathead
• Wildcard (any fish from any other category)

Southern/New Zealand 5 (minimum 300g)

• Snapper
• Trumpeter or Boar Fish
• Salmon
• Whiting
• Blue Mowie

Florida 5 (minimum 1kg)

• Hogfish
