Dive Boots vs Booties and socks. What's the difference?

In this episode of Adreno Tips, Luke Latham talks us through the difference between dive boots, booties and dive socks. They are all very similar and easy to get confused as they sound very similar, so here we'll break down the differences.
Dive booties and socks are great for any closed heel dive fin, freediving fins or snorkeling fins. Booties and socks are usually between 1mm and 5mm thick, and they're usually all neoprene, which makes them quite comfortable to wear and easy to travel with. The downside of a bootie is that you may, with long periods of wear end up with a blister.
Dive boots can come with a hard or soft sole, which means they are still quite versatile. Hard sole boots are better for walking on rocks and soft sole boots are better for walking on sand or in and around boats. The other consideration when looking at dive boots is wheater you want a zip on the side of the boot or not. the zip is fantastic for ease of getting the boot on and off, however, it will let a little bit of water in, which means in a cold climate, you may want o look at zipperless boots.
