Description

When Rob Allen set out to build the ultimate bluewater speargun, the result was the Rob Allen Timberline GT Speargun. Sitting at the very top of the Rob Allen range, the Timberline GT is a handcrafted, individually custom-balanced speargun that combines the classic warmth of timber with cutting-edge barrel technology. Built for serious bluewater hunters chasing big-bodied fish at distance, this gun is equally at home in any ocean environment, from shallow reef to the open blue. Every single gun that leaves the Rob Allen workshop is a bespoke piece, hand-finished with a Danish-oil treatment that preserves the natural character of the timber while protecting it from the elements.

Rob Allen Timberline GT Speargun Key Features

  • Hybrid Barrel Construction: A carbon fibre barrel wrapped in a mahogany over-sleeve gives the Timberline GT exceptional rigidity and strength without sacrificing the aesthetic and feel of a traditional timber gun. The combination of materials delivers a stiffer, more accurate shot than timber alone.
  • Cuttlebone-Shaped Barrel Profile: The distinctive cuttlebone cross-section reduces the gun's vertical profile, allowing it to cut through the water with less drag and resistance. This makes tracking and aiming on target species significantly easier underwater.
  • Open Muzzle Design: The open muzzle keeps the shaft exposed and primed for fast, accurate shots. It is optimised to work in tandem with the twin-rubber configuration for maximum power and consistency across varying shot distances.
  • Rob Allen Vecta 2 Trigger and Handle: The Vecta 2 mechanism is Rob Allen's refined trigger system, engineered for a smooth, crisp and reliable pull. It eliminates creep and uncertainty at the moment of shot, which is critical when you're waiting on a quality fish.
  • Twin 16mm Rubbers: Dual 16mm bands deliver serious power output suited to long-range shooting and larger, harder-to-penetrate species. The twin-rubber setup is a defining feature of a true bluewater configuration.
  • 7.5mm Double-Notch Spring Steel Shaft: The 7.5mm spring steel shaft provides the diameter and stiffness needed to drive through big fish cleanly. The double-notch configuration gives you flexibility in rubber placement and loading depth to tune power to your conditions.
  • 400lb Black Monofilament: Rigged with 400lb breaking-strain black mono, this gun is set up to handle the initial run of large pelagic species without compromise. The black colour reduces visibility in the water column.
  • Gun Bungee with Snap Clip Rigging: The included bungee and snap-clip rig absorbs the shock of a hard-running fish, reducing the risk of shaft bend or spear loss on powerful strikes.
  • Sear-Activated Stainless-Steel Line Release: The integrated stainless-steel line release activates on the shot, allowing the mono to run freely without restriction and reducing the chance of a broken or bent shaft on an angled hit.
  • Integrated Loading Butt: The built-in loading butt gives you a firm, ergonomic point to load against your chest or hip, making rubber loading safer and more controlled, particularly important when running heavy twin 16mm bands.
  • Integrated Dovetail Reel Mount: A built-in dovetail rail allows direct fitment of a compatible Rob Allen reel (sold separately) without the need for additional adaptors or clamps, keeping the profile clean and secure.
  • Danish-Oil Timber Finish: Rather than a hard lacquer, the mahogany over-sleeve is finished in Danish oil, which soaks into the grain and retains the natural look and tactile feel of the wood while providing moisture resistance over time.
  • Handcrafted and Individually Custom Balanced: No two Timberline GT guns are identical. Each one is hand-built and individually balanced to ensure optimal weight distribution for stability and accuracy upon firing.

The Rob Allen Timberline GT is a speargun for the hunter who demands the very best in performance, craftsmanship and reliability. Whether you're targeting yellowfin tuna, large amberjack or any serious bluewater species, this gun has the engineering and pedigree to back up your skills in the water. Please note this product is restricted to persons aged 18 years and over.

Frequently Asked?

What's the barrel made of and why does it matter?

The Timberline GT uses a hybrid barrel combining a carbon core with a mahogany over-sleeve finished in Danish oil. This construction increases strength and rigidity while retaining the natural feel of timber. The cuttlebone-shaped profile also reduces vertical drag, making it easier to move through the water during a dive.

What length Timberline GT should I choose?

The Timberline GT is available in multiple lengths including 120cm, 130cm, and 140cm. Longer guns suit open-water hunting and bigger-bodied fish where extended range is an advantage, while shorter options offer more manoeuvrability in tighter environments. Consider your typical dive conditions and target species when selecting your length.

What rigging and shaft does the Timberline GT come with?

Each gun comes rigged with a 7.5mm double-notch spring steel shaft, twin 16mm rubbers, 400lb black monofilament, and a gun bungee with snap clip. The sear-activated stainless-steel line release is also integrated into the gun, so it arrives ready to use straight out of the box.

Can I attach a reel to the Timberline GT?

Yes — the Timberline GT features an integrated dovetail mount designed to accept a compatible optional reel, though the reel itself is not included with the gun. This allows you to configure the speargun to suit your preferred rigging setup without needing additional mounting hardware or modifications.
